The Well

‘With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.’ Isaiah 12:3

The Well is a window for a private chapel on a Kincardineshire estate. The building is a lovingly restored ruin – an historic laundry built conveniently near the well.

A hand draws water from the deep well in an ordinary bucket.

And the water gushes, spilling over and drenching everything

The other hand reaches out – perhaps in surprise – but then in joy at the forceful, healing flow.

[Jesus said ] “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:37-38

[Isaac] moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarrelled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.” Genesis 26:22
